OREM – Southbound I-15 in Orem Restricted to Three Lanes

As early as Sept. 6, crews are scheduled to reduce southbound I-15 to three lanes at the Orem Center Street interchange. Southbound I-15 is already reduced to three lanes at the 1600 North and 800 North interchanges. Auxiliary lanes connecting the on- and off-ramps will be provided to allow drivers the opportunity to enter and exit I-15 safely. This restriction allows crews to finish preparations for the dividing of the southbound lanes of the freeway toward the end of September.

SPANISH FORK – Main Street / U.S. 6 Northbound Off-Ramp Closed

As early as Sept. 6, crews are scheduled to close the northbound off-ramp to Spanish Fork Main Street and U.S. 6 from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. to shift northbound traffic to the east side of I-15. This traffic shift is to facilitate work in the center of the roadway. Area residents should expect some additional nighttime noise and possible vibration due to equipment in the area.

I15 CORE – Orem Lane Split

In mid-August (20th), lanes on both northbound and southbound I-15 in Orem will be split to accommodate bridge and road construction. The split will be similar to the configuration currently in effect in the American Fork area. Trucks will be allowed to use all lanes in this area. Drivers will need to stay in the right two lanes in order to use the Orem exits. Motorists should use extreme caution when approaching this traffic configuration and obey signs and barriers.

SPRINGVILLE – Proposed Recreation Center

The Mayor and City Council of Springville City are proposing to have a general obligation bond election for a proposed recreation center on the November 8, 2011 ballot. The bond election will ask if Springville residents will be willing to raise their property tax to support a bond for a recreation center. The proposed property tax increase would be $9.90 monthly for an average ($200,000) home. The proposed bond would be for a period not to exceed 25 years.

Springville City staff and a Recreation Center Development Committee have been working with VCBO Architects to create some concepts and ideas of what a new Recreation Center for Springville could include. We very much would appreciate your feedback and ideas about the project.
